Castelnuovo Berardenga (Siena), June 6, 2021.

The fourth round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship at the Siena Circuit experienced an intense weekend with a series of highly competitive finals. The KZ2, MINI Gr.3, 60 Minikart categories and the two Rok Junior and Senior categories were on track for their third and final round. Once again, a good number of participants were seen in the MINI Gr.3, with 56 young promises of international karting coming from 20 different countries.

Palomba wins race 1 and increases his championship lead, Tormen wins race 2.
The Siena weekend proves successful for Giuseppe Palomba (LG Motorsport/BirelART-TM Racing) in KZ2, dominating race 1 after winning in qualifying and heats. With this victory, the 20-year-old Neapolitan driver increases his lead in the general classification and in the special Under-20 ranking. In the first of the two finals, Palomba immediately took the lead, easily controlling his opponents until the finish line, where he preceded Giacomo Pollini (NGM Motorsport/CRG-TM Racing) and Alessio Piccini (Tribe One/BirelART-TM Racing) with a lead of over 2 seconds. However, Pollini had to pay a 5-second penalty due to a detached front spoiler after contact with Piccini and Moritz Ebner (Tec Tac/BirelART-TM Racing), and was demoted to fourth place. Alessio Piccini was also excluded for a technical irregularity. Second place was therefore taken by Moritz Ebner, third by Marco Tormen (Modena Kart/BirelART-TM Racing), who thus made a great recovery after going off track in Saturday’s second heat due to slippery asphalt. Alessio Baldi (Intrepid Driver/Intrepid-TM Racing) finished fifth, ahead of Alex Maragliano (Renda Motorsport/BirelART-TM Racing), Luigi Di Lorenzo (Modena Kart/BirelART-TM Racing) and Matteo Mazzucchelli (Top Kart-TM Racing). In the special Under-20 classification, the top three positions went to Giuseppe Palomba, Mortiz Ebner and Marco Tormen.
In Race 2, Marco Tormen quickly recovered positions and took the lead, followed by Giacomo Pollini, while Giuseppe Palomba struggled to gain ground from eighth position, also due to a “slow” period lasting 5 laps because of an accident. In the final laps, Tormen had no problems controlling the situation and winning deservedly, while Pollini held on to second position, resisting Palomba’s attacks until the finish line. Matteo Mazzucchelli finished fourth ahead of Alessio Baldi. On the Under-20 podium, Palomba took the top step, with Moritz Ebner in second place and Alex Maragliano in third.

Orjuela and Costoya win the two finals of MINI Gr.3.
The MINI Group 3 was decided in the last two laps, when American Matias Orjuela (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing) managed to overtake Czech driver Jindric Pesl (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame) who had led for the entire race until that point. Swiss driver Kilian Josseron (Team Driver/KR-Iame), another protagonist of the Siena weekend, finished third. Fourth place went to Swedish Oliver Kinnmark (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing), while Thai driver Enzo Tarnvanichkul (Team Driver/KR-Iame) was demoted from fifth to ninth due to a 3-second penalty. Belgian Dries Van Langendonck (BirelART Racing/BirelART-TM Racing) thus gained fifth position ahead of Spanish Christian Costoya (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing), Dutch Dean Hoogendoorn (Kidix/Alonso-Iame) and Slovenian Matic Presa (BirelART/TM Racing).
In the second final, Christian Costoya took the lead from the start and won the race with Jindric Pesl again in second place after a good recovery. But an even more impressive recovery was made by Filippo Sala (Team Driver/KR-Iame), who climbed 10 positions to secure the third place. Matic Presa finished fourth ahead of race 1 winner Matias Orjuela.

In 60 Minikart, Rocchio wins race 1, Carfagna takes race 2.
In 60 Minikart, Gino Rocchio (Team Driver/KR-TM Racing) won again in a photo finish in Race 1, after also securing pole position in qualifying and winning the heats. In the first of the two finals, Rocchio’s main rival was Giacomo Giusto (Revolution/Energy-TM Racing), who finished second and first among the Under-10s. The gap between the two was only 47 thousandths of a second. Angelo D’Ortensio (KR-TM Racing) finished third, while fourth place and second place among the Under-10s went to Edoardo Mario Sulpizio (TK Kart/EKS-TM Racing) after a 9-position comeback. Tamas Gender (Team Driver/KR-Iame) finished fifth, sixth and third among the Under-10s was Nico Carfagna (Parolin-TM Racing).
In the second final, Gino Rocchio lost the chance to double his victory due to a spin in the first lap. Nico Carfagna took the lead and stayed there until the end, with Giacomo Giusto again in second place, while Antonio Parlapiano (Parolin-TM Racing) secured the third step of the podium. Mattia Padoan (Team Driver/KR-TM Racing) finished fourth but made it to the Under 10 podium behind Carfagna and Giusto.

Sensational double win for Davide Larini in Rok Junior.
For the two Rok Junior and Rok Senior categories, this is the third and final round of the Italian Championship. The first of the two Rok Junior finals went to the son of a racing driver, Davide Larini (Newman Motorsport/Tony Kart-Vortex), his first victory in an Italian Championship event. Larini secured the win at the end of a very competitive race, where his teammate Giacomo Pedrini was forced to retire in the last lap after leading from the start. Mattia Jentile (Autoeuropeo/Tony Kart-Vortex) thus finished second, with Thomas Baldassarri (Newman Motorsport/Tony Kart-Vortex) third and Alberto Kiko Fracassi (Tony Kart-Vortex) fourth. Championship leader Alessandro Antonelli (Parolin-Vortex) finished fifth after a 9-position comeback.
Davide Larini repeats his performance in race 2 and wins after a 7-position comeback due to the reversed grid. Polish driver Piotr Czaja (Exprit Racing/Kosmic-Vortex) finishes second, Nicolò Cappotelli (KGT Motorsport/Tony Kart-Vortex) is third, while Alessandro Antonelli finishes a solid fourth.

Double success also for Eliseo Donno who secures the title in Rok Senior.
In Rok Senior, race 1 victory went to Eliseo Donno (KGT Motorsport/Tony Kart-Vortex), who led the entire first final and with this result jumps to the top of the championship standings. Polish driver Karol Czepiel (Exprit Racing/Exprit-Vortex) finished second while Emanuele Bruscino (Kosmic-Vortex) took third position. The other championship contender Marco Matera (MAD Racing/Tony Kart-Vortex) was forced to retire.
In race 2, Lecce-born Eliseo Donno manages to take the lead again and finish with another victory that allows him to win the title. Karol Czepiel and Emanuele Bruscino again take the podium in second and third place.
