KARTING SCHOOL AND ROAD SAFETY EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN
Among the values of the Siena Circuit, its role is important not only in the Karting School, but also in road education for the youngest.
On several occasions, the Siena Circuit has indeed seen various school groups gathered on the track for Safe Driving School courses with karts, as recently happened during the “Children’s Road” project carried out in collaboration with the Automobile Club Siena, the Municipality of Siena, the Municipal Police and the “A. Sclavo” Elementary School.
The experiment, already successfully conducted by other Automobile Clubs in Tuscany in collaboration with other municipal administrations, took place at the Siena Circuit in a first-class environment, technically suitable in terms of both active and passive safety, with a day dedicated to the “practical” driving test for children.
All of this was under the supervision and watchful eye of qualified instructors, supported by the collaboration of race officials from the Automobile Club Siena, who contributed to the perfect success of the event.
On this occasion, the theoretical lessons given by the Siena Municipal Police were fundamental. They explained the meaning of the main danger signs, pedestrian crossings, and traffic lights, as well as giving a complete sense to the fact that the children would then find a setup on the track very similar to a road layout. Indeed, the aim of the project is to combine theoretical learning, carried out in the classroom, with practice and fun associated with karting.
