17th SIENA TROPHY. 4 RACES IN ONE WEEKEND. WINNING FORMULA

The 17th edition of the Siena Trophy concludes after a weekend featuring four races. At the end of these spectacular challenges, Alessio Piccini, Simone Sgheri, Fabrizio Monti, Alessio Mordini, and Fabio Ferretti claimed the title.

The first day of racing, Saturday (11/24), was held on dry conditions, while on Sunday, the relentless rain forced everyone to use rain tires.

The formula of four races in a single weekend, with two races on Saturday and two on Sunday, was certainly well-chosen and appreciated by the drivers.

The awards ceremony was worthy of the event, with honorary prizes and appreciated prizes in kind (local typical products).
On Sunday, the Rok Final Cup was also held, the final event of the Vortex one-make series, which saw Biagioli, Bedetti, and Scagnetti come out on top.

KZ2. Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart-Vortex) won three of the four races and had Alessio Baldi (Intrepid-Tm) as his toughest rival. Baldi managed to snatch victory from Piccini in the second race, which was run on Saturday with a dry track.
Andrea Zemin (Intrepid-Tm) from Veneto finished in third place.

In KZ4, the victory was never in question, with Siena’s Simone Sgheri (Crg-Tm) setting an unmatched pace for anyone and winning all four races.
The second position was contested between Luigi Bizzarri (Crg-Tm), Claudio Cusumano (Crg-Tm), and Giancarlo Cesaroni (Minarelli-Tm). In the end, Bizzarri came out on top, performing well and consistently both on dry and wet tracks on Sunday.

The KZ3 Over was the most numerous category and saw the clear dominance of Fabrizio Monti (Tony Kart-Vortex) who finished with a perfect score, thanks to four victories.
The battle for second place was much more uncertain, with Bernardo Pellegrini (Intrepid-Tm) from Veneto fending off attacks from Tuscans Jacopo Vanelli (Maranello-Tm) and Paolo Beltramini (Crg-Tm).

So on the podium, behind Monti, Pellegrini and Vanelli finished with equal points, but Pellegrini reached the score before his direct rival and, therefore, placed second in the Trophy.

The competition in KZ3 Under was resolved down to the wire between Fabio Ferretti (Tony Kart-Dea), Tiziano Micheli (Energy-Tm), and Kevin Ceccarelli (Maranello-Tm).

The three arrived at the fourth and final race practically tied on points, with one victory each. So race-4 was a true challenge of truth, run in the rain, with all the uncertainties that wet asphalt brings.

Under the checkered flag, Ferretti came out on top, ahead of his direct rivals in the Trophy, Micheli and Ceccarelli. Thus, the finishing order of race-4 was a carbon copy of the top three positions in the final Trophy standings.

In the KZ3 Junior, Alessio Mordini (Energy-Tm), Simone Lepri (Energy-Tm), and Lorenzo Mariani (Crg-Tm) competed for success. These three drivers shared the victories, with only Mordini being able to win two races.

In fact, Mordini also won race-3, in the rain, but was penalized with 10″ and thus handed the victory to Lepri.

The clear victory in race-4 brought the Trophy into Mordini’s hands, relegating Lepri and Mariani to second and third place respectively (although tied on points). Not far from the leaders was Samuele Marchetti (Oreron-Tm), who finished fourth, just one point behind the two ahead of him.

The Rok Final Cup featured three categories of the Vortex one-make series: Mini Rok, Junior, and Senior Rok.
The victory in the Mini went to Lorenzo Bedetti (Righetti e Ridolfi-Mini Rok) who resisted a last-minute attack from Riccardo Ianiello (FA Kart-Mini Rok), who spun out in his overtaking attempt.
Davide Pirozzi (Tony Kart-Mini Rok) and Francesco Perfetti (Parolin-Mini Rok) made it to the podium.

In the Senior Rok, the challenge was all about the confrontation between two young Tuscans, Federico Biagioli (Tony Kart-Rok GP) and Filippo Croccolino (Intrepid-Rok GP). Biagioli imposed himself excellently, resisting Croccolino’s final comeback. Luca Leonardi (Tony Kart-Rok GP) finished third.
Luca Scagnetti (Tony Kart-Rok) won in the Junior Rok after making a great comeback against Mattia Chiurato (Energy-Rok). The last step of the podium went to Hyden Lupiferi (Intrepid-Rok).
