On the weekend of July 9, over 100 drivers took part in the Summer Trophy at the Siena Circuit, where the intense heat made the track competitions even more challenging in the event valid for the Tuscany-Umbria Regional Championship, the Rok Cup Italia Centro Area Trophy and the X30 Challenge Italy with the Iame single-make series.
In the Siena Summer Trophy, it’s worth noting the first victory of Enzo Trulli, son of former F1 driver Jarno Trulli, who achieved success on Tony Kart-Vortex in Mini Rok at the end of a final fought until the last meters of the race. Young Enzo Trulli, increasingly competitive lately, immediately became a protagonist in the Siena event with the second best time in practice behind Federico Rossi (CRG-Vortex) and victory in the Prefinal. In the Final, Trulli Jr, after taking the lead at the start of the race, slipped back several positions but managed to make a great recovery and at the end of the last lap finish with victory in a spectacular sprint finish over Rossi and Ferdinando Taddei (Top Kart-Vortex). After the race, Rossi was penalized 10 seconds and the second and third places behind Trulli were inherited respectively by Taddei and Alessandro Lizio (Parolin-Vortex) who moved up from sixth position in the Prefinal.
In the other Rok category racing, Senior, Luca Bertonelli (Tony Kart-Vortex) won in his first experiences in the category. Bertonelli won the Rok Senior Final over Alessio Bacci and Mirko Laurito, while Rebecca Guarguaglini placed fourth due to penalties given to Luca Leonardi and Riccardo Zuccante.
In the X30 Challenge Italy, in X30 Junior Francesco Simonazzi won both the Prefinal and Final on Tony Kart-Iame. Behind Simonazzi, in the Final Mattia Ingolfo and Leonardo Fornaroli earned podium spots, both on Zanardi-Iame.
Carlo Aldera dominated the X30 Senior, winner of both the Prefinal and Final, where he finished ahead of Danny Carenini and Federico Vecchio, all on Tony Kart-Iame.
The undisputed protagonist of X30 Super was Simone Favaro, on Zanardi-Iame, who in the Final won with a large margin over Alessandro Granelli (Top Kart-Iame) and Massimiliano Liverani (Tony Kart-Iame).
The X30 Master was closely fought, with Valentino Fornaroli (Tony Kart-Iame) winning by a narrow margin over Luca Essant (Tony Kart-Iame), the latter making a comeback from last position in the Prefinal. Pierangelo Lanci (Kosmic-Iame), who had won the Prefinal, placed third. Fourth was category veteran Tino Donadei (Evokart-Iame), who came close to pole position in practice.
In X30 Mini, Giovanni Trentin won on Energy-Iame, after Alexander Panaev on Tony Kart-Iame had won the Prefinal and placed second in the Final. Third on the Final podium was Sofia Necchi (Energy-Iame), who had earned pole position in practice. Racing alongside X30 Mini was Alessandro Pacini (Tony Kart-Lke) in 60 Mini, seventh overall in the Final.
In the national categories competing for the Tuscany-Umbria Regional Championship, the most lively category was KZ4, where Simone Sgheri’s (CRG-Iame) pole position in practice was answered by Federico Martini (Intrepid-Tm) with victory in both Prefinal and Final, with Sgheri having to settle for second position in both races. In the Final, third place went to Claudio Cusumano (CRG-Tm), while Roberto Arcangeli (CKR-Tm) and Gino Strovegli (CRG-Tm) finished fourth and fifth respectively.
KZ2, KZ3 and Rok Shifter raced together. Overall winner of the Final was Lapo Nencetti on Tony Kart-Tm in KZ2, while in KZ3 Junior Andrea Beghé (CRG-Tm) won with second place overall, in KZ3 Under Tiziano Iodice (Maranello-Tm) fourth overall, in Rok Shifter Stefano Di Bari (Tony Kart-Vortex) fifth overall, in KZ3 Over Massimo Carbone (Croc-Tm) seventh overall.
In the Gilera category, Moreno Grillandini (CRG) won the Final after Francesco Gulinelli (Maranello) had dominated in practice and Prefinal. Gulinelli had finished the Final in second place, but due to a 10-second penalty ended up fourth, behind Massimo Cenacchi (Maranello) and Fabio Randellini (CRG).
