The tension of the competition was heightened by very uncertain weather conditions, which shuffled the cards, particularly on Sunday afternoon, when rain began to fall on the circuit making it necessary to mount rain tires.

In Rotax Mini, Davide Bottaro (Irt) dominated the weekend, who after obtaining pole position in qualifying, managed to win all three races. Brando Badoni (FooDrivers), direct competitor for the title, had to settle for second place in both race-1 and race-2, while in race-3, with a wet track, it was Nik Trobec who closely challenged Bottaro, overtaking him in the early stages, but then unable to maintain his pace in the second part of the race. Lorenzo Lanzara finished third in the standings, obtaining third place in race-2 and fourth in all other races of the day. Davide Bottaro therefore wins the Rotax Italia 2020 title and earns the ticket to participate in the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Final.

The Rotax Junior certainly had a more fluctuating and uncertain course. The weekend begins under the sign of Alberto Kiko Fracassi (Lka Dannic), who takes pole position with a significant advantage over the two pre-race favorites, Leonardo Baccaglini (54 SC) and Andrea Giudice (FooDrivers). However, Baccaglini’s championship expectations suffer a hard blow when at the start of race-1 he immediately goes off track in what could have been costly. Back at the rear of the group, Leonardo authors a great comeback that will lead him to finish in the top-5; only the 5″ penalty for the spoiler out of position will force him to eighth place. Up front it’s an escape and victory for Fracassi, while behind him there’s a tight battle between Giudice and Andrea Perduca, with the former prevailing by a few hundredths at the finish line. Race-2 takes place in uncertain weather conditions, but then rain prevails. The winner, however, is always the same: Fracassi crosses the finish line first, this time ahead of Baccaglini and Leonardo Del Col (Ktre). Instead, Andrea Perduca, Martino Zorgno and Emanuele Marotto, who could have had their say in terms of standings, go off track. In race-3, again held in wet conditions, it’s absolute domination by Leonardo Baccaglini, who delivers the winning blow and pulls away by 8″ from Kiko Fracassi, while Andrea Giudice finishes third, who after a subdued start manages to get rid of the Ktre duo Del Col – Perinazzo in the finale to obtain third place. In the standings it’s little Kiko Fracassi who finishes at the top with 170 points. Behind him Leonardo Baccaglini, who is however first among the drivers qualified for the Grand Final, and Andrea Giudice, third overall but second classified in the race for the ticket.

The Rotax Max sees Nicola Guerra (Lka Dannic) in splendid form, who sets an amazing 42.158 (circuit record) in qualifying, earning him pole position. Alongside him starts teammate Lka Jacopo Sisti. Third is defending champion Elia Galvanin (KSB). Race-1, held on dry track, sees a train of 4 drivers pull away. Having not started very well, Sisti recovers positions until he takes the lead, but 5 laps from the end he suffers a fierce attack from Guerra, who creates chaos and also advantages Elia Galvanin, who will finish second. Nicola Guerra wins over Sisti and Galvanin, while pre-race favorite Michele Chizzali finishes fourth. Rain affects race-2 and race-3, while Guerra’s race fortunes are immediately affected by technical problems that force him to start from the back of the grid. Galvanin takes control of the situation, but then it’s Sisti who dominates both race-2 and race-3, conducted masterfully from first to last lap. Galvanin and Vezzelli (LGK) follow him, the latter author of a great race in race-3, finished in second position, but never really threatening Sisti, who wins deservedly. In the standings it’s Sisti who takes the national title, with attached world ticket. Chizzali and Guerra finish tied in second position overall, but due to a higher gap, Michele Chizzali gets second place.

Circuit record also in Dd2, with Luca Munaretto prevailing over a surprising Gregorio Bertocco (KCS) and Michaele Rosina (54SC). While Bertocco has an unfortunate start, which leads him to lose positions, even more unfortunate is the fate of Michaele Rosina, immediately forced to retire and see his championship chances waver. Nicola Felappi (Honolulu Racing) instead has a great race start, which sees him in second position, until Michele Candela (Laudato Racing) prevails over him. Munaretto wins easily over Candela and Bertocco, while contact with defending champion Trolese (ktre) knocks out Felappi a few corners from the end. Rosina’s response doesn’t take long to arrive: under the heavy rain of race-2 he puts in an unreachable pace for everyone, recovering from the back of the field to clear victory. Bertocco and Trolese finish behind him, while fourth is Fabio Cretti (Honolulu Racing), first of the Masters and author of an excellent performance. With still 3 drivers in full race for the title (Rosina, Candela and Munaretto) starts a race-3 marked by changing asphalt conditions with wet conditions gradually drying out. In this situation it’s Luca Munaretto who prevails, also thanks to Michaele Rosina’s start problems, who only moves up to tenth on the first lap and then authors a great comeback, but not sufficient to close the gap on the Italian-South African, who wins the national title. Curious that Munaretto and Rosina finish the championship tied on points: crucial is Rosina’s retirement in race-2 which costs him a lower point gap, a fundamental discriminant. Both earn the world ticket, while Michele Candela is a good third overall. For the Master class it’s again Fabio Cretti who triumphs, for the third consecutive year. The fight was tight with Lorenzo Landi (Lgk), who won two out of three heats, but who not having raced in 2020, participated in the final without points. Second classified is Emilio Pecci (54SC), who found in the points “stolen” by Landi the biggest obstacle to challenge Cretti, who for the third consecutive year will represent Italy at the grand finals. In the Gentleman class it’s Emilio Furlan who wins the 2020 national title.
