PISTA INTERNAZIONALE DI KARTING

SPRING TROPHY. A WET SUCCESS

The two-day Spring Trophy event was a success. A total of 110 drivers took to the track, with the KZ categories dominating in terms of spectacle and numbers.

The Trophy, held over two days, was an excellent warm-up for the organization ahead of the upcoming ACI-Sport Italian Championship round, taking place at the Siena circuit from June 7 to 9. Sunday’s rain made some races more unpredictable, enhancing the spectacle.

KZ OVER. The pole position narrowly goes to Nalon over Tempesti, who is ahead of evergreen Simone Torsellini and Griggio.
The wet pre-final partially alters the qualifying values, and Demezza takes the win, skillfully recovering from fifth place. Poleman Nalon is second ahead of Torsellini. Pagani, Giacchetti, and Tempesti follow at a distance.
The final, as far as the first place is concerned, is decided at the first braking point, with leader Demezza passing unscathed while a block with multiple contacts forms behind him. Demezza gains a slight margin that allows him to head towards victory undisturbed. The fight for the podium is much more entertaining, with Simone Torsellini catching up to Nalon, Gagliardini, and Tempesti. Torsellini, Nolan, and Gagliardini all receive a penalty for a misplaced nose cone after the finish, but this does not change their standings. Noteworthy is Gagliardini’s great comeback, missing the podium by a hair but recovering fourteen positions from the start.

KZ SENIOR. In the most competitive KZ category, the battle is among the big names, with Tormen leading in qualifying, followed by Pizzi, Iacovacci, Mirko Torsellini, and Mizzoni. All within less than 4 thousandths!
In the pre-final, Torsellini creates a gap with the rain tires, ahead of Iacovacci, Mizzoni, and Temperini.
The final is extremely close and revolves around the duel between Mirko Torselli and Iacovacci. The two race the entire final glued to each other, with Iacovacci on Torsellini’s tail. Towards the end, Iacovacci challenges Torsellini, but in the end, a penalty for Torsellini’s nose cone out defines the standings. Thus, Iacovacci celebrates with Torsellini second and Bartolini third.

60 MINI. In the Mini category, the wet track shuffles the deck, and Luvisi claims the pre-final victory ahead of the son of art Larini and Bucci. Pole-sitter Sabatini slips to fifth position.
Luvisi is flawless in the final and confirms his lead ahead of Bucci and Sabatini, who makes excellent overtakes on Califano and Bucciarelli. Despite finishing third at the line, Larini slips off the podium to fourth due to a misplaced nose cone.

KZ UNDER. Mattia Giannini takes pole with a formidable 39.837 on a dry track. In the pre-final, a mixed situation occurs, with the track gradually drying and only some opting for slicks. Thus, under the checkered flag, Calvanese earns the chance to start on pole for the final, ahead of Dalle Stelle, Cavina, and Telleschi.
In the final, once again, the tire choice makes the situation uncertain. Part of the group stays on rain tires, while another half opts for slicks. This latter choice proves victorious and is the reason for some spectacular comebacks.
Giannini leaves no chance for his opponents and sets a deadly pace, winning with a huge margin over Marchetti, who, aided by slicks, recovers from 22nd position. Mordini is third, climbing the podium despite a spin. Nuccioni is fourth, also standing out for a spectacular comeback from 21st on the grid. The final standings see Giannini, Mordini, and Nuccioni on the podium.

ROK JUNIOR. Belmonte takes pole, but the pre-final (run with slicks on a damp track) is clearly won by Fantozzi.
The Junior Rok final is marked by the lively duel between Fantozzi and Belmonte. The two alternate in the lead, but under the checkered flag, Fantozzi finishes first, followed by Belmonte and Bellandi.
Fantozzi’s nose cone out hands the victory to Belmonte.

ROK SENIOR. In the pre-final, Zuccante, from the front row, gets off to a bad start, and poleman Ortenzi is surprised by Mezzetti. In the final stages, Ortenzi sets things straight and takes the victory over Mezzetti.
In the final, remembering what happened in the pre-final, Ortenzi secures the victory in the early laps, gaining a slight margin over direct pursuers Mezzetti and Zuccante, who finish in that order.

MINI ROK. Ianiello has no trouble securing pole position on Saturday on a dry track. In the pre-final, the battle is much more intense, and on the wet track, Quattrocchi clearly prevails over Ianiello and Pacini.
In the final, Ianiello and Pacini create a gap, battling for the victory until the finish line, with Ianiello not being surprised by Pacini, who is always combative and fair. Quattrocchi is a good third ahead of De Pascale and Coppotelli.

ENTRY LEVEL. Sala dominates in qualifying, showing comfort on the wet asphalt and repeats in the pre-final, ahead of Sulpizio and Zaccaria.

X30 SENIOR AND JUNIOR. Marinucci dominates among the Seniors in both the pre-final and final. Parente finishes behind him.
Nardozzi wins the Junior pre-final, but in the final, Fornaro takes home the victory, taking advantage of the opponent’s KO.
